Astronaut Chris Hadfield: 'I tweeted photos from space'

From December 2012 to May 2013 a tweeting Canadian astronaut captured the attention of the world with his surreal photographs of the Earth as viewed from space.

At the end of his time as commander of the International Space Station Chris Hadfield released a video of him singing David Bowie's song Space Oddity - filmed on board the ISS -which gained over 10m views during its first three days online and is credited with making space travel "cool" again.

He retired in July and has published a book, An Astronaut's Guide to Life.

He told the Today programme's Sarah Montague about tweeting photographs from space.
