Could there be a third world war?

World Affairs editor John Simpson visits the World War 1 battlefields and asks if there could be another world war.

Friction between China and Japan is growing, with the US this time on the side of Tokyo, while the importance of the Middle East is diminishing.

Our correspondent also warns that war often comes "out of the blue", like 9/11 and the assassination of Archduke Franz-Ferdinand in 1914.

He also visits All Souls College in Oxford and speaks to Professor Hew Strachan, who says conflicts involving massed armies are unlikely and the risk is more from cyber-attacks.
