North Korean defector says prisoners ate rats
South Korea is now home to more than 25,000 North Korean defectors. The journey to reach South Korea is long and dangerous, but once they arrive, South Korean citizenship is guaranteed.
Lucy Williamson meets one such defector, now living on the outskirts of the South Korean capital.
The woman fled to Seoul a year ago after being released from a North Korean prison camp. She tells BBC Newsnight that she will never go home.
