The grey slender loris: Conservation success in Sri Lanka

The grey slender loris is found only in Sri Lanka and parts of India.

Human activity is threatening the habitat of this nocturnal primate, but one site in Sri Lanka is now seeing a boost in numbers.

Hotel Jetwing Vil Uyana in central Sri Lanka put development plans on hold when the animals were discovered there in 2010, and now runs a successful conservation area to protect them.

Resident naturalist, Chaminda Jayasekara, runs the site.
