UN President calls for 'immediate ceasefire' in Gaza
The UN Security Council has called for an "immediate and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire" in Gaza.
An emergency session backed a statement calling for a truce over the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr "and beyond".
President of the council Eugene-Richard Gasana said: "We urge the parties and the international community to achieve a comprehensive peace based on the vision of a region where two democratic states live side by side."
