Malta: The nurse of the Mediterranean

With soldiers facing up against new machines and technology on the front lines, doctors in World War One were tasked with treating casualties unlike any they'd seen before.

As part of a BBC series looking at stories of the war beyond the trenches, Dr Kevin Fong explores how Malta pushed its medical traditions to earn the name "The Nurse of the Mediterranean".
