Few women in Iran have used their voices to such powerful effect as Ghamar ol Molook Vaziri.

Born just one year before the Constitutional Revolution, she learned how to sing religious mourning tunes from her grandmother.

By the age of twenty she was challenging - and changing - the male dominated music scene of Iran.

She performed on stage without the hijab, at a time when women who didn't wear a headscarf were often taken to jail.
