Close-Up: Sunday night at Mombasa's lighthouse

For the last forty years, hundreds of locals in Mombasa, Kenya have gathered in the city's lighthouse pier area on Sunday evening.

It is a place to socialise for young and old alike, who meet to enjoy street food which reflect's Kenya's historic blend of African and Asian cultures.

One favourite is grilled sweetcorn cob, flavoured with lime and chilli - usually washed down by coconut water.

And as Vishva Samani discovers, what was the preserve of locals is now popular with tourists keen to soak up the atmosphere.
