Gunfire heard in Tunis as unrest escalates in Tunisia

Tunisia's month-long unrest is escalating despite the deployment of troops and an attempt by the government to address some grievances.

Troops have fired live bullets and tear gas in the centre of the Tunisian capital Tunis according to reports.

At least one person is reported to have been killed and a large area of the city centre has been closed off by police and the military.
