'Egyptian police queued up to punch me'

A British journalist has told how he was beaten by Egyptian security forces after being arrested during the anti-government protests.

Jack Shenker, a Cairo-based reporter, was working for the Guardian newspaper on Tuesday when he was arrested, beaten and held in the back of a van with dozens of protesters.

He said many of the protesters were professional people who would not normally take to the streets.
