Nelson Mandela having 'check-up' says Jacob Zuma

South African President Jacob Zuma has said former President Nelson Mandela is "having a check-up" after reports he is spending his second day in hospital.

He said Mr Mandela, 92, had flown from Cape Town to Johannesburg on Wednesday before going to a clinic.

Mr Zuma, speaking from Davos in Switzerland where he is attending the World Economic Forum, said: "Given his age, he has to go for check-ups more frequently than when he was a young man."
