US using tough language to urge Mubarak to step down

There are now hints of progress towards organising a transfer of power from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Opposition leaders are expected to meet Egypt's vice-president in the coming days.

In Washington, President Obama has urged Mr Mubarak to listen to the people and make a judgement about the best way forward.
