Fighting rages in Ivory Coast's Abidjan

Fighting has raged on in the Ivory Coast's main city, Abidjan since Thursday night as forces loyal to the UN-recognised president, Alassane Ouattara, are battling those of his rival, the incumbent Laurent Gbagbo.

Millions of civilians are trapped as forces of the rival political leaders fight each other in the streets.

Soldiers loyal to Alassane Ouattara, are closing in on areas of Abidjan held by those supporting his rival.
