Nato chief rejects Libya stalemate

Nato Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said "substantial progress" is being made in Libya amid claims of a military stalemate.

Speaking from Chicago, Mr Rasmussen said Nato had significantly degraded Col Muammar Gaddafi's military capacity.

"Time is up for the Libyan regime. It has no future. The future belongs to the Libyan people," he said.

He told the BBC's Katty Kay that the mission to defend the population in Libya would continue.
