Town caught in violence of Sudan border

South Sudan's leader Salva Kiir has said he will not lead his people back into conflict with the north over the disputed region of Abyei.

It was seized by northern troops at the weekend, but is also claimed by the south.

South Sudan is due to become an independent nation in July. A peace deal in 2005 ended 22 years of civil war in which some one-and-a-half-million people died.
