Workers seek higher pay and better conditions in Egypt

Egypt has experienced a surge of industrial unrest since the uprising that ousted President Hosni Mubarak as workers exploit new freedoms to push for better pay and conditions.

Under the old regime the minimum wage was kept low and trade union activity was restricted.
