Libya uprising: Rebels prepare for Bani Walid showdown

Libyan interim government forces surrounding the Gaddafi-held desert town of Bani Walid are preparing to fight their way into the town after failing to strike a deal with loyalists there.

Bani Walid is one of four towns and cities still controlled by Gaddafi supporters and has been set a deadline to surrender by Saturday. The others are Jufra, Sabha and Col Gaddafi's birthplace of Sirte.

Meanwhile, the fugitive leader remains elusive, with Niger officials saying that he was not in a convoy that travelled into the country from Libya.

Richard Galpin reports.
