Libya uprising: Tripoli jail chief reflects on challenges
Taher Husnein used to sell cars in Sacramento, USA, and volunteer as a Muslim chaplain at al-Judaida, one of the biggest prisons in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
He is now in charge of the jail and has called on the country's new government to send "professional help" and "money to run the affairs of the prison".
In an interview with the BBC's Caroline Hawley he spoke of the enormous challenges he faces in running the prison with no support from the National Transitional Council.
