Does Africa care about the arts?

Although in many parts of Africa there are fascinating museums and art galleries, sometimes it is mostly foreign tourists who visit them.

Some local people argue that they do not have the time or the money to do so.

Bisi Silva, the founder and artistic director of the Centre for Contemporary Art in Lagos, Nigeria, told the BBC Network Africa programme why, in her opinion, this is wrong.

Ms Silva and Raphael Chikukwa, the curator of Zimbabwe's National Museum, explained to our presenter Bola Mosuro the challenges of organising art exhibitions in Africa.
