Anders Fogh Rasmussen: Nato to end Libya operation

Nato has announced it will end its air campaign over Libya on 31 October, following the decision of the UN Security Council to lift the no-fly zone and end military action to protect civilians.

Nato Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement that the operation was "one of the most successful in Nato history''.

He added that Nato would be on hand to assist in Libya's transformation to democratic rule.
