Drought-hit Kenyans in Turkana trial greenhouse farming

The Turkana region was one of those hit hardest by Kenya's drought earlier this year.

Thousands were left severely malnourished, in a nomadic culture heavily dependent on livestock.

Now, a handful of local residents are trying out greenhouse agriculture, capturing rainwater and using it sparingly to grow crops such as tomatoes that they can then sell.

Karen Zarindast reports.
