Volcano eruption attracts tourists in DR Congo

Tourists in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been viewing a spectacular volcanic eruption from a tented camp.

Nyamulagira volcano in Virunga National Park has been sending streams of lava hundreds of metres into the air since 6 November.

Experts say it does not currently pose a threat to tourists, the local population or the park's endangered mountain gorillas.

In 2002, another volcano in the area destroyed swathes of the city of Goma, forcing 350,000 residents to flee

Chakuchanya Harawa reports.
