'African gypsy': Ghana meets Romania in Wanlov's music

Wanlov the Kubulor is an activist, environmentalist and rap artist who weaves pidgin English and the Ghanaian language Twi together in his lyrics.

Born in Romania to a Romanian mother and Ghanaian father as Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, he blends sounds from both countries in his unusual music.

After performing a special acoustic session for the BBC World Service in London, accompanied by Ryan Ansah on guitar, Wanlov described how his life story has shaped his work.
