Nigeria's Christians to take measures against killings

The head of Nigeria's Christian Association has said his community will take all necessary steps to defend themselves against a wave of killings by Islamist extremists.

One north-eastern state has imposed a 24 hour curfew to try to stop the violence.

The crisis comes as the the country prepares for another major political confrontation, over the doubling of fuel prices.
