Baaba Maal on music and politics

Following the election of Senegal's new President Macky Sall, singer Baaba Maal told the BBC his views on politics and music.

He was answering questions sent in by BBC Africa followers on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.

Other questions included what role West African musicians and artists should play in stabilising the region, specifically Mali.

And whether artists can effectively use their influence to mobilise community efforts towards worthy social causes.

BBC Africa's Hassan Arouni put them to the Senegalese music star when he visited the BBC studios in Bush House.
