African Union impose Mali sanctions

The African Union has announced sanctions against Mali's new military leadership, as well as armed rebel groups who have seized control in the north of the country.

The measures add to sanctions already imposed by the West African regional bloc, Ecowas, on Monday.

Army rebels deposed the government last month claiming President Amadou Toumani Toure had not done enough to fight Tuareg rebels.

Tom Esslemont reports.
