Mass Nigeria wedding aims to tackle divorce rate

One hundred couples have been married en masse in Nigeria's second city, Kano.

The aim is to try to reduce a rising divorce rate, and to provide the women with a stable home and financial security.

The event took place at the palace of a traditional ruler, the Emir of Kano.

Men who marry through the programme will not be allowed to divorce their wives without permission.
