Kenya riots: Violence 'new trend' in Mombasa
A grenade has been thrown at police in the Kenyan city of Mombasa, reportedly killing two people and wounding 16.
Muslim youths have been involved in running battles with the police since Monday after the murder of radical preacher Aboud Rogo Mohammed.
Najib Balala, MP for Mvita, Mombasa, said that the town was a "melting pot for all cultures and communities" and that the violence seen in recent times was a "new trend".
Speaking to the BBC's Focus on Africa programme, Mr Balala also criticised the police, saying that not enough was being done to stop those responsible for the unrest.
