Mali residents flee al-Qaeda-backed extremists
More than 430,000 people have fled the north of Mali since April, when al-Qaeda-linked extremists took control of the country.
The crisis comes on the back of a major drought which has left more than four-and-a-half million people across Mali threatened by malnutrition.
Mali's army says it is confident of re-taking the area but those who have left are less optimistic.
The BBC's Mike Thomson spoke to one family who fled.
