Mali: BBC reports from inside seized Diabaly

French and Malian troops have seized the key Malian towns of Diabaly and Douentza from militant Islamists.

The Islamist fighters fled after a French bombing campaign began on 11 January. Diabaly had been deliberately targeted for its army garrison and weapons supply.

Residents have revealed that not all the militants were foreign - some were well-known locals who have switched sides.

Andrew Harding reports from Diabaly.
