Chief Justice optimistic over Kenya elections

Kenya goes to the polls in the coming weeks but the stakes are higher than ever before.

One presidential hopeful, Uhuru Kenyatta, is among those due to stand trial at the Hague accused of crimes against humanity, a charge he vehemently denies.

Following claims of vote rigging in the 2007 election, 1,300 Kenyans were killed in ethnic violence and another half a million lost their homes.

Now the man whose job will be to oversee the swearing in of the next president is optimistic.

Willy Mutunga, Kenya's reformist Chief Justice, explained to the BBC's Africa correspondent Karen Allen why the Kenyan courts will be better equipped to deal with disputes this time around.
