Residents in Pretoria have been expressing their thoughts on the news that the former President Nelson Mandela is critically ill in hospital.

South Africa's first black president, 94, was taken to hospital in Pretoria earlier this month for the third time this year, with a lung infection.

One Pretoria resident told the BBC "everyone is sad" about Mandela.
