Mali displaced reluctant to go home

It has been over five months since France intervened in northern Mali to oust Islamist rebels.

France still has more than 3,000 troops in its former colony but the military operation has so far been a success.

Now political efforts are being made to restore order and organise presidential elections at the end of next month.

In the meantime, life remains a challenge for those displaced by the fighting with many of them reluctant to go back home, as Alex Duval Smith reports from central Mali.
