Kenyan farmers: 'Khat is no drug'
Parliamentarians in Kenya say they want the United Kingdom to reverse its decision to ban the herbal stimulant khat.
Khat is currently legal in the UK, but the British Home Office says it is going to reclassify it later this year as a class C drug.
Chewing the leaf produces a mild stimulant effect. It is popular especially in the Somali, Ethiopian and Yemeni communities.
Much of it comes from central Kenya, from where BBC Africa's Gabriel Gatehouse sent this report.
