Ramadan: When should children start fasting?

Millions of Muslims around the world are observing the holy month of Ramadan. It is compulsory for adults to fast, unless they are sick, pregnant, breast-feeding or travelling.

But at what age should children start? Usually they begin at puberty, but some Muslim parents have been encouraging even younger children to fast.

BBC Africa's Zuhura Yunus met up with an East African family in London to find out about a 10-year-old girl's experience.
