A journey to Boko Haram territory

The Nigerian government is under increasing pressure to deal with Boko Haram militants who have been engaged in a violent campaign which has claimed thousands of lives since 2009.

International attention has been focused on the group in recent weeks following the kidnap of more than 200 schoolgirls, but out of the spotlight the group has also committed other atrocities.

Hundreds of people were recently massacred in the north east of the country, from where the BBC's World Affairs Editor John Simpson sent this report.
