Libya militia take US embassy swimming pool in Tripoli

Videos have emerged on social media showing armed militia in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, diving into the swimming pool inside the abandoned US embassy compound.

US staff left the compound in July because of security concerns. Now armed militia are reported to have taken control of the compound, which they showed off to journalists at the weekend.

Violence in Libya has surged recently between the rival groups who overthrew Muammar Gaddafi in the 2011 uprising.

The BBC has not independently verified this footage.
