Kenya's President Kenyatta at ICC in The Hague

Kenya's President, Uhuru Kenyatta, has become the first sitting head of state to appear before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

President Kenyatta is facing charges of crimes against humanity over his role in the violence that followed the 2007 elections in Kenya.

He says the charges against him are politically motivated and insists that the case should be thrown out.

Anna Holligan reports.
