Suspected al-Shabab militants kill at least 28 in Kenya bus attack

Police in Kenya say suspected al-Shabab militants have killed at least 28 people on board a bus near the border with Somalia.

Senior officers said the bus - which was en route to the Kenyan capital Nairobi - was hijacked in the Mandera county area.

Non-Muslims are said to have been separated from the rest of the passengers and then shot dead.

Kenyan police chief, David Mwole Kimaiyo, said most of those attacked were Christians.

Some reports say anyone who failed to recite verses of the Koran was killed.

Anne Soy reports.
