Robert Mugabe appoints Mnangagwa after sacking vice president

The Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has appointed Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa as one of his two new deputies.

The move follows the sacking on Tuesday of Vice-President Joice Mujuru who was accused of plotting to kill the president.

Correspondents say Mr Mnangagwa, who is also known as 'The Crocodile', is now the most likely person to succeed Mr Mugabe, who is 90 years old.
