Shell to pay Nigeria locals for 'devastating' oil spill

The Royal Dutch Shell oil company has agreed to pay $84m (£55m) in compensation to a Nigerian community affected by oil spills in the Niger Delta.

Fishermen and farmers whose livelihoods were destroyed by pollution will get more than $3,000 (£1,982) each, with the rest of the money going to the wider Bodo community.
