Gunfire and confusion in Burundi amid coup reports
An attempted military coup is under way in Burundi with heavy gunfire in the capital Bujumbura.
At least 50,000 civilians have fled the small, land-locked country.
The East African nation was affected by the overspill of the Rwandan genocide in 1994.
It also had its own civil war in which more than 300,000 people were killed.
The latest protests were sparked by the president's decision to seek a third term in office.
That decision triggered both violence and international condemnation.
Maud Jullien reports from the capital.
