Burundi human rights activist Mbonimpa shot in capital

Burundi human rights activist Pierre Claver Mbonimpa has been shot and wounded by gunmen on motorbikes, his family and witnesses say.

He was a stern critic of President Pierre Nkurunziza's controversial bid for a third term in office.

The attack happened on Monday, just a day after a former head of intelligence and close aide to President Pierre Nkurunziza was killed in an attack.
