UN's CAR envoy resigns over peacekeeper abuse claims

The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, says he has accepted the resignation of the head of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.

The resignation follows the force's handling of child sexual abuse allegations by UN peacekeepers.

The UN chief made the announcement during a short briefing at UN headquarters in New York.
