Why are global powers 'scrambling' for Africa?

Top officials from the US, China, Russia and Turkey have visited 14 African countries in January alone.

The flurry of visits is underpinned by the continent’s diplomatic weight in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine among other factors.
