Gabon army officers announce takeover on national television

Twelve Gabon army officers have appeared on national television to say they have taken power.

They announced they were cancelling the result of Saturday's election, and closing the country's borders "until further notice".

The electoral commission said President Ali Bongo had won the election with just under two-thirds of the votes, in an election the opposition argued was fraudulent.
