Rotten eggs thrown at ministry

Thousands of Taiwanese farmers have thrown rotten eggs and pig excrement at the agriculture ministry in Taiwan.

They were protesting against a government plan to allow the import of US beef, which was recently found to containing residues of the growth enhancer, ractopamine.

And they claim that once beef containing ractopamine is allowed in, in time pork would also be admitted.

Police stopped the farmers entering the building after they broke through an outer security barrier.
