North Korea leader Kim Jong-un's first major speech

North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un has made his first televised speech at a massive celebration marking the 100th birthday of the nation's founder Kim il-Sung.

Speaking in the capital Pyongyang, Kim Jong-un praised the efforts of his grandfather in creating the nation state.

His address comes only a few days after the failure of the country's controversial rocket launch.
