Anti-Japanese protests sweep China

Thousands of people have taken part in anti-Japanese protests in China, after Japanese nationalists raised the flag of Japan on disputed islands in the East China Sea.

Around 1,000 people marched in the southern city of Shenzhen where protesters overturned a Japanese-made police car and attacked a Japanese restaurant.

In a number of other cities demonstrators waved Chinese flags and demanded that Japan leave the islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu by China.
