US to ease Burma import sanctions, says Clinton

The US will begin to ease its import ban on goods from Burma, one of the key remaining sanctions against the Asian nation, Hillary Clinton has said.

The secretary of state announced the decision during talks with Burmese President Thein Sein during the United Nations General Assembly.

She said the relaxation of restrictions was in recognition of "continued progress toward reform" in Burma.
